Where Do I Place/Hide The TV?

In the real world most people watch TV, lots of it, over 3 hours per day on average in the US! Unlike those perfectly staged aspirational homes awaiting an Architectural Digest photographer, most homes have televisions in multiple locations. I find most TV's to be rather bland, but these days it's quite easy to conceal a TV and allow it to be easily accessible too. Here are some examples:

1.  One of the more affordable 'invisible' TV's is the Samsung 'FRAME" that has a contemporary frame surrounding the TV, offered in multiple colors. It displays digital art when not in use to conceal that it's indeed a TV. Interspersed with a gallery wall, many may not even notice its existence.

2.  Pop-up TV's:  Many cabinets exist now that allow a hydraulic lift to raise and lower a concealed TV at the foot of a bed or elsewhere.

3.  Sliding Wall:  Walls or artwork that slide over to reveal a TV behind it.

4.  Retractable ceiling mounts: The TV is hidden in the ceiling and pivots down when in use.

5.  Under-the-bed hydraulic:  This system ingeniously conceals a TV underneath a bed and then with the touch of a button the TV emerges from beneath the bed and rises up at the foot of the bed.

6.  Drop down projection screens:  TV projectors are now extremely powerful and easily visible even in bright daylight. A projector concealed in a wall, projecting on a retractable screen or open white wall is effective.

7.  More recently I have seen a very low-lying cabinet that pops open, a screen rises up out of the cabinet, and in the front of the cabinet a little drawer opens with a projector that projects the image upwards to the screen, the perfect system to maintain a view through big glass walls whilst also accommodating a TV.

8.  Behind a mirror. Technology exists that allows you to hide a TV behind a mirror, whether in the bathroom or a decorative mirror above a mantle.

I am sure there are other ways to hide a TV, but most interior designers would agree that concealing a TV is an important consideration when decorating a home beautifully.
