Many of us are driven purely for survival, getting through the day to the next. Many of us are driven by a desire to take care of family and children. Some are driven purely for power and wealth. Everyone has a different reason for what they do and the key to all of this is knowing what that is. Too often, we are unable to see what it is that makes us do what we do each and every day, beyond the obvious. Are you achieving what you truly want to achieve?
Every life has a beginning, middle and end. Do you even recall the names of your great grandparents? I don't. That is how quickly most of us are forgotten. So what does it take to define what drives you?
1. Look to the past to identify the things that you did or said that delivered a true sense of satisfaction and accomplishment.
Be 100% honest about this.
2. Ask yourself specific questions, not just about actions but also feelings.
3. Keep a journal so that you can record what you are experiencing.
4. Ask others what they see/witness, those who know you well.
5. What are your values and goals?
6. Clearly define what success means to you.
Remember, sometimes wanting, striving and working for something can deliver one worse outcome: getting it, especially if that's not what you really wanted to achieve!
