This is another one of my rants about the erosion of substance, especially in real estate. Yes, some "for profit" opportunists were capable of convincing jurors, multiple media entities, and commentators (millions), that profesional real estate brokerage is quick, simple, overpaid, and easy-money, etc. Seldom, if ever, is a complete picture painted about the realities of exactly what it takes.
Social media, 24/7 digital distraction, podcasts, short-form video, etc have changed how we process information and our understanding of things. Instead of reading lengthy, detailed essays or having deep conversations, doing our own thorough research and cross referencing sources, we absorb fragments, sound-bites, headlines, etc and regurgitate talking points. We think we are informed by these algorithm fueled messaging systems, but in reality we've sadly lowered our standards for what constitutes being truly informed. We have allowed ourselves to be manipulated. We have allowed ourselves to be misinformed, lied to at unprecedented levels.
