I have an incredible townhouse at 45 Canal Street, right in Dimes Square, and the new Nine Orchard Hotel is on the corner. My friend and client, Ignacio Mattos, recently opened his restaurant Corner Bar in the hotel. It's fantastic. And in the same building, which used to be the Jarmulowsky Bank, is his bar Swan Room. Vaulted ceilings, amazing wine and cocktail list - but no pictures allowed, so you have to see it for yourself.
I've really been appreciating the transformation of Rockefeller Center from just a tourist and media spot to a real food and culture hub. A great example is Pebble Bar, founded by my friend Matt Kliegman. It's in a restored 1870s townhouse, with interiors by Gachot Studios, and has a real classic New York feel.
I find inspiration in the architecture of NYC. I've lived here my whole life and I'm always finding something new - a firehouse, a clock tower, a detail, a history.
There's been a great movement toward wellness across New York City, and especially in the luxury sector. Cold plunges, cryotherapy, infrared saunas, meditation, alternative healing - these are all becoming commonplace. However, my go-to is still the Russian Turkish bathhouse in the East Village. I've been going since I was 18 years old. It has no frills, but there's a reason it's been around forever.
The Aman Hotel is the epitome of luxury in NYC. It's an incomparable experience.
